In March, the 'national index of consumer prices for the entire community (Nic) represents an increase of 0.1% over the previous month, while on-trend growth is 1 2% (+1.6% in February), the lowest since February 1969, states Istat, when recording the same value. A push inflation is due to the increases in tobacco prices. For most products purchased (Foi index, calculated consumption of households are headed by an employee) values differ slightly: +0.1% and +1.1% cyclical trend.
The harmonized index IPCA (comparable to European level) increased by 1, 2% on month and was up 1, 1% on year (1.5% in February), a record since 1996. Both values have been revised upwards by 0.1% from the previous estimate. Finally, core inflation rose by 1, 9% (+2.2% in February), inflation excluding energy products stood at +1.8% (+2.2% in February ).
"The decisive slowdown in inflation in March, is affected - said the National Institute of Statistics - the clear trend of lower growth rates in both the goods sector (+0.8% against 1% to 2 February) is in services (from 2.2% in February 1, 7%). In particular, after the increases recorded in the preceding month, in March, energy prices back to mark "a marked decline in the economic cycle, which accentuates the decline on a trend."
Is also slowing down the trend rate of growth of prices of the food, but these are still, even in March, a record increase on a monthly basis. With reference to expenditure categories, the most significant economic gains have affected the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1%), other assets and services (0.3%) and clothing and footwear (0.2%) .
Decreases term (on the previous month) were recorded for transport prices (-0.4%), recreation and entertainment culture (-0.2%) and housing, water, electricity and fuels (-0.1 %). On the trend, the highest growth rates were recorded for the chapters of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+5.2%), housing, water, electricity and fuels (+3.4%) and food and drink alcoholic (+3%).
Variations on an annual basis there have been rather negative in chapters Transport (-3.4%) and communications (-1.9%). The breakdown of the trend rate of growth in the overall contributions attributable to the various chapters shows that, last month, the biggest contribution is attributable to the chapter of the Food and alcoholic beverages, which together with that of Housing, explained 69% the rate of inflation.
As part of the 20 regional capital cities, the highest index Nic trend increases occurred in the city of Naples (+2.1%), Trieste, Genoa (both +1.5 percent), those most Moderate focused Aosta (+0.2%), Trent (plus 0.4%), Venice, Palermo and Cagliari (+0.6 per cent for all three). (Al.An.)
