The online auction site eBay has completed the sale of Skype to two billion dollars (1.34 billion euros) to a private equity fund, which includes one of the founders of the phone service online.
Last week, eBay has solved the legal conflict with the co-founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, who gave the green light to close the sale. Under the agreement, Skype continues to own the software through the holding of copyrights, Joltid Ltd.
The sale covers 70 percent of the shares owned by eBay, for a total of 1.9 billion dollars (1.27 billion euros, more than 125 million dollars (83.8 million) which will be paid on later. So eBay still has 30 percent of Skype.
The two founders of the telephony program online, Zennstrom and Friis, retain 14 per cent. The group of investments, Silver Lake, the office of investments of pension Andreessen and Horowitz of Canada, holds 56 percent of 'company.
